Student Council
Our Middle School Student Council is a member of the National Association of Student Councils and consists of a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Historian, and student Representatives from all classes. At the beginning of each school year, all students are encouraged to participate in a democratic election process by running for a position or by casting their vote. Our Middle School Assistant Principal assists the student council in organizing annual events including Rec Nights, Halloween, Cheer Box distribution, ASOMEX events and fourth grade orientation. The main duty of the Student Government is to assist in developing and organizing activities and events which will serve the entire student population at ASFG. The Student Council will also serve as a spokesperson to the administration.
Middle School students are represented by officers and representatives, who are elected each year. The elected offices are:
- President 8th grade
- Vice-President 7th or 8th grade
- Secretary 5th-8th grade
- Treasurer 5th-8th grade
- Historian 5th-8th grade
In addition, each Advisory class will elect one representative to serve on the Student Council along with the elected officers.
To qualify to be a Student Council member, a student must have an average of 70% or better; fill out an application form with all his/her teacher's signatures, and have a good disciplinary record. The student must maintain these standards throughout the term of office.
