Welcome to the ASFG Middle School! The entire team of teachers, administrators, and staff strives to provide our students with an engaging and comprehensive academic and extra-curricular program enabling our students to become purposeful learners, creative and critical thinkers, effective communicators, and community contributors.
The team approach of our middle school is a key component to our students’ success. Our teachers work within grade level interdisciplinary teams to plan instruction and meet the individual needs of the students in their grade level. Because teachers share the same students and have a common planning period, they are able to respond quickly to the needs of individual students through collaboration, meeting jointly with parents, and designing thematic units of study fostering the transfer of ideas among disciplines and increasing relevance. Working together within their teams, our teachers carefully monitor and attend to the academic, social, and emotional development of their students.
Our seventh and eighth students are further engaged and motivated through our 21st Century Learning Program which provides them with school owned lap tops as a learning tool. This program has enhanced student learning and revolutionized how teachers teach. We have been impressed by the quality and creativity of work produced by our students as they demonstrate their learning using 21st Century technology.
I cordially invite you to take some time to visit the Middle School section of the website where you will learn more about our programs, get to know our staff, and have the opportunity to view some of our students’ work.
Sincerely,
David Markman
