Student Assessments & Evaluations
On-going authentic assessment of individual and group learning is an integral part of our early childhood program. We support teachers in curriculum planning based on students’ abilities, interests, and needs. This assessment process, where student learning is documented and reflected upon, is the heart of our program.
At the beginning and end of the school year, parents receive narrative reports that represent their child’s approach to learning. In addition to these narrative reports, there is a common grade level assessment tool applied to all early childhood students in February. This tool focuses on our end of the year grade level learning objectives in areas such as English proficiency, writing, reading readiness, mathematical thinking, and fine motor skills. Kinder students are also assessed in Spanish language arts. Results of this common assessment tool are shared with parents and used by our faculty to study and improve our program.
Individual parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year to discuss each child’s progress in our program.
