Sixth Grade
Sixth grade is still a transition year for our middle schoolers. To keep a “small school” feel, there are two sixth grade sub-teams comprised of approximately 50 students per team. Students have one teacher for Language Arts /Social Studies, another teacher for Math/Science, and an additional teacher for Spanish and the Mexican Program Social Studies. This way, our students only see three main teachers per day. Students are on a block schedule where each class is 90 minutes long. This allows teachers to integrate curriculum, leading to more dynamic learning for our students.
Our Service Learning program is with the InstitutoFreire which is a school for students of all ages that have special needs. In the past we have invited students from Freire to our campus and sixth grade students organized games and various activities for the students.
As a teacher, sixth grade is an incredible year where you get to see your students grow academically, emotionally and socially!
