Music
In middle school music class we have a spiraling curriculum which includes four major areas at each grade level:
- Appreciation: Students learn about great composers and their major masterpieces. We learn to appreciate all kinds of styles and how to recognize delightful music.
- Performance: Students learn to sing in different ways from solo parts to harmony and from a variety of styles from pop to classic.
- Theory: Students study the foundations of musical tools such as symbols and what they represent in a practical world.
- Technology: Students learn about a world of new devices and tools they can apply to music. They learn how to create their own music and edit it to make it sound exactly the way they like.
Students are evaluated based on individual and team projects related to these four areas and through daily assessment activities.
