I am excited to be the high school guidance counselor at the American School Foundation of Guadalajara. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, but as a young adult I decided I wanted to follow my dreams of becoming a historian by attending Pennsylvania State University. Upon graduating in 2000 with a degree in history, I returned to my family in California where I received my teaching credential in Secondary Social Studies.
From 2000 to 2002, I taught in the Windsor Public School system, in Northern California, where I had the opportunity to teach in a collaborative setting. However, after my two years in Windsor I got the travel bug, and in 2003 I moved to Guadalajara to work at ASFG. Throughout my tenure at ASFG I have had the pleasure of being a high school social studies teacher, department head, and mentoring coordinator. I decided to continue my education by completing a Master’s degree in curriculum development in 2005.
During my first year in Guadalajara I met my soul mate and husband, Rafa and we married in 2008. In 2011 we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Natalia, to our family.
Through my interactions with my students at ASFG, I found a passion for career and university counseling. In 2003 I decided to improve my knowledge in this field and went on to complete the requirements for a certificate in higher education counseling at the University of California Los Angeles. Upon receiving my certificate I created a consultant company where I aided international students applying to study at universities abroad. I look forward to applying my knowledge and experience in this field to the students at ASFG.
