Instructional Programs
The Instructional Programs office works to guarantee that the ASFG curriculum is rigorous and relevant for our community. Language arts, math, science, and social sciences are taught in English with a US style curriculum. In addition, students study Spanish (or Spanish as a Second Language), Mexican history, Mexican civics, and Mexican geography in the Spanish language. ASFG strives to balance these academic classes with instruction in the fine arts, physical education, human development, education towards a sustainable future, and 21st century skills. Curricular areas receive continual and thorough review through this office so that best practices are adopted in a timely manner. ASFG has a five year review rotation which focuses on one academic area per year with the ASFG faculty playing a key role in this process. Staff development is designed to focus on the corresponding study area and the upcoming curricular review plans.
The ASFG’s Advanced Placement program exposes our high school students to the rigor of university level study. In 2010, over 100 students took one or more AP exams. Over 200 exams were proctored on the ASFG campus representing thirteen different AP courses. ASFG is proud to consistently report higher overall pass rates than US national statistics while maintaining an admissions philosophy that is inclusive of students who have demonstrated desire and work ethic.
