Extended Learning
There are specific projects, at each grade level, that extend students' learning. The following are a few highlights of events that happen throughout the elementary section. Pre-first students learn about and create lanterns and other art pieces and participate in an annual parade for the Lunar New Year. First graders work on WebQuests and each child donates pesos into a classroom piggybank to help a service learning organization. Second graders create incredible dinosaur projects and present to their parents and other classmates. Third grade students engineer inventions to solve a problem and the students present their inventions to parents at their annual Invention Convention. The culminating event for all elementary students takes place in fourth grade when the students study countries and cultures from around the world. They learn dances and songs, and taste a variety of foods, and finally bring all their work together in an amazing event called Folklorama.
