Submit your service hours (please submit your hours at least two times each school year)
Part 1: Find an opportunity and start your service
Please read through the following steps in order to begin the service learning experience.
- Review the “High School Service Learning Opportunities” so that you may learn about various organizations that need your volunteer help.
- Choose an institution that you are interested in helping and contact the supervisor for an initial approval. It is important to note that it is not mandatory to pick an institution from the ASFG database.
- If you plan to help an organization that is not currently on our list then please complete the “Organization Approval Form”. Then our Social Service Committee will review your submission (January and August) and let you know if the organization provides adequate opportunity and support for our students. If not, you will need to choose a different option.
- After completing steps 1-3 you are welcome to start your learning experience.
Part 2: Submit your service hours for approval
Choose one of the two options below and then complete the final step.
- Option 1: Use your ASFG YouTube account to record a short (30 seconds or less) video "example 1" or "example 2" verifying your volunteer work by introducing your supervisor. You don't need to say the exact number of hours completed on the video clip. You will indicate the total hours completed when you submit the form on the final step below.
- Option 2: Ask your organization for a signed letterhead that describes your performance and includes the total number of hours you spent volunteering. You can use this example service learning letter as a reference.
- Final Step: Fill out the "Service Hours Approval Form". In this form you will need to include a link to the video described above or include a link to the signed letterhead verifying your service.
